My 4yo doesn’t get the humour in this - she pointed out it was mean for the animals to laugh at each other。 Maybe she’ll like it when she’s a bit older?

This book never fails to make us laugh, our four-year-old little-AJ simply loves it! A group of odd and funny-looking animals queueing up at the Ministry of Silly Animal Names, wanting to get their names changed。 We met a dog named Cockapoo, a bird called Blue-Footed Booby, a mind-boggling Ice Cream Cone Worm, a hilarious Shovelnose Guitarfish, a jelly-lookalike Blobfish, and so on。 We had loads of giggling fun reading it, and little-AJ laughed every time when I did the “Ha Ha Ha Ha 。。。。 laughed This book never fails to make us laugh, our four-year-old little-AJ simply loves it! My favourite part is definitely the “Facts and Snaps” section at the end of the book。 We read in amazement about a Monkey-Face Prickleback that always look surprised found in Pacific Coast of North America。 We think the picture of Fried Egg Jellyfish looks absolutely amazing like a yellow spaceship floating in space。 We also read about how the “Aha Ha Wasp” being so reclusive that we couldn’t even find a photo of him。 This book is for lovers of unusual animals! Storyline wise, it’s okay and the kids get the point about “funny names”。 But I would have love this book more if the writer can incorporate some of the special characteristics of the animals into the storyline。 For example, do you know that the Tasselled Wobbegong has rows of sharp, fang-like teeth; and a Pink Fairy is excellent digger and can completely bury itself in a matter of seconds? I think these unique features would have contributed to a more exciting story than what it already is。 。。。more

Wonderful drawings, funny punchline。

A fun little book about animals with silly names。 Lots of opportunity for child interaction (I get mine to do the laughing) and has a little fact file at the end to learn about all the creatures。

@Bilal Bey’in tavsiyesi üstüne bugün kitapçıda okudum。 Okurken sesli güldüm kaç kez! Sonunda da kitaplığıma ekledim。 Çocuk kitaplarının mizahını seviyorum! Garip mahlukatları da。。。 İkisini birleştiren bu kitap favorilerim arasına girdi!

Struggled to get Noah into this book - he kept crawling away。 The storyline is OK and the characters exceptional, but it really needs to be pitched at 3-4yo plus。Great to see the animal factfiles at the back though。

A good book that teaches kids about the interesting names of real animals。 Also liked how at the back of the book it showed photos of the actual animals and taught us a couple of facts。

A blobfish does not normally look like that, only when it is painfully dragged to the surface :( It's animal cruelty and not funny。。。 A blobfish does not normally look like that, only when it is painfully dragged to the surface :( It's animal cruelty and not funny。。。 。。。more

This is a great read! At the Ministry of Silly Animal Names, the Cockapoo is waiting his turn, wanting to change his ridiculous names。 Then other animals chime, each with a crazier name than the last。 But they're all real names! My kids enjoyed this book a lot, and it was fun to see the notes at the end with extra details about these unusual animals。 This is a great read! My daughter was bought this book as a Christmas gift。 What an absolute hilarious find! She's had fun since thinking up names of her own for things。 My daughter was bought this book as a Christmas gift。 What an absolute hilarious find! A humorous introduction to a variety of animals with comical names - some of which I knew and others which were new to me。 This is sure to be a hit with my Year 3 class, and I particularly liked how each animal is shown in photographs with some background information at the end。3。5 stars。

At the Ministry of Silly Animal Names, there's a queue of animals who really want to change their names because they aren't happy with how silly they are。 My little one was a bit too young to appreciate this story, but I'm going to keep it in mind to revisit with her in the future because it's a very clever way of educating children on some of the more unusual species in the world。 At the Ministry of Silly Animal Names, there's a queue of animals who really want to change their names because they aren't happy with how silly they are。 My little one was a bit too young to appreciate this story, but I'm going to keep it in mind to revisit with her in the future because it's a very clever way of educating children on some of the more unusual species in the world。 。。。more

Kes Gray has expanded his very successful Oi frog series to include this title which begins to introduce young readers to the real world of strangely named creatures, a brilliant way to encourage young readers to discover the world of non fiction texts。

This book is so much fun。 Children from KS1 and KS2 love it。 The names of the creatures are hilarious and the children look in amazement when they discover that they are real names of real creatures! A great book if you are doing anything about animals, habits, adaptations, extinction, creating your own creatures etc the list goes on 。。。。

An amusing tale with a colorful cast of weed -and real! - critters。 Charmingly illustrated and with repetitive text great for reading along。 Also contains some facts about the critters at the back。My favourite? The pink fairy armadillo。
